Life, Stuck Together

The Handmade Journal Making Workshop

In this relaxed and creative session, you'll work with an eclectic mix of materials, from fabric, handmade and cartridge papers to wallpaper, prints, and magazine fragments. You'll construct a journal filled with unexpected colour combinations, where every page offers its own unique character and rhythm. Your friendly teacher will guide you through the process step by step, showing you how to:

The experience

Calm, hands-on and absorbing.

No pressure to be artistic. No expectation to share personal content.

Just time to focus, make and create something meaningful.

Who it’s for

Open to everyone, whether you enjoy writing or not.

Particularly suited to:

  • Creative, design-led experiences

  • Meaningful social time that isn’t alcohol-led

  • Wellbeing sessions and team days

A memory book for the things that matter
This is not a journal. It’s not about writing pages of thoughts.
It’s about making a physical record of life as it actually happens.
Small moments. Fragments. Things you’d usually lose, forget or throw away.

The workshop

You’ll create your own handmade memory book using a mix of carefully sourced papers and materials.

You’ll spend time:

  • Building and customising your book cover and inserts

  • Working with paper, texture and colour

  • Learning simple binding techniques you can use again

Your book becomes a place to hold:

  • Tickets from gigs

  • Receipts from meals

  • Pressed leaves and flowers

  • Notes, sketches and fragments

This is about assembling a life, not documenting it perfectly.

What you’ll leave with

  • A finished, handmade memory book

  • Skills to continue building and adapting it

  • Materials to keep the process going at home

Do I need to be creative?

No. These workshops are designed for people who don’t usually think of themselves as creative as well as those who do. We guide the process and the materials do a lot of the work. There is no right way to make anything here.

Can you run these at our office?

Yes. We regularly deliver workshops onsite for teams and organisations. We adapt the setup to suit the space and make sure it works without disrupting the working environment.

Is everything provided?

Yes. All materials are included, and you don’t need to bring anything with you unless you want to. Just come as you are.

How messy is it?

A little messy, in a good way. Aprons and table coverings are provided.

Public Events, Can I come alone?

Absolutely. Many people come on their own. The sessions are set up so it feels easy to settle in, whether you feel like chatting or keeping to yourself.
